Origins

My love of plaster casts began while studying drawing and sculpture at the Florence Academy of Art. It was there, surrounded by the rich artistic heritage of Florence, that I began assembling my own collection. Inspired by the generations of Italian craftsmen who have preserved and reproduced great works of sculpture, I founded The Fountainhead Gipsoteca in 2021.

For much of my life, I only knew the works of giants like Michelangelo, Donatello, and Bernini through books and computer screens. After arriving in Florence, I came to understand firsthand how extraordinary it is to move beyond those static images and finally experience great sculpture in its fullest, most physical expression. Three dimensions. The ability to study its forms, appreciate its details, and gain a deeper understanding of the artist’s original vision.

That experience remains at the heart of what I do. My aim is to preserve and expand a collection of historically significant sculptural works while making faithful plaster reproductions available to artists, students, and collectors alike.
