My love of plaster casts was sparked during my time studying drawing and sculpture at the Florence Academy of Art. I began my collection in Florence and, in a humble attempt to join the tradition of master Italian craftsmen, I decided to start The Fountainhead Gipsoteca in 2021. As someone who for the longest time only understood giants like Michelangelo, Donatello, and Bernini through book pages and computer screens, being able to study, touch, and admire fragments from history’s most important sculptures is an amazing thing. So my goal is to keep an important and historic collection alive while helping get affordable plaster reproductions into the hands of students, artists, and lovers of art and art history. I am always adding to the collection too, so please follow along over on Instagram @fountainheadgipsoteca where new additions will be shared first.
